Iain McCarthy

Iain spent 12 years working in Wealth Management for a number of banks and family offices. In 2015 he moved with his growing family to Northern Ireland and since then has been on a mission to promote the sport of Stand Up Paddleboarding. He started his business SUP Hub NI in 2018 and is passionate about the growth and development of the sport promoting accessibility, sustainability, inclusion and performance.

Iain joined the Paddle Northern Ireland Board in November 2023, taking on the additional role of Safeguarding Champion. Iain has some remarkable achievements in his paddling career, he was one of the first Stand Up Paddlers to complete the 215 mile River Thames Source to Sea in 2011, in 2019 he completed a crossing of the North Channel on a SUP Board raising funds for the RNLI and in 2022 competed at the ICF Worlds Championships in Poland. He is keen to broaden his paddling experience over the coming months and try other Paddlesports.
