How to Affiliate
Clubs affiliate for a one year period from your start date and must be renewed annually to maintain continuous insurance cover.
In December 2024 the Standards for Deployment Policy was implemented across all four national associations and aims to support volunteers and paid employees to create a safer culture and environment within paddlesport by following an agreed set of standards. Developed with representatives from Paddle UK and all four national associations to support and guide affiliated clubs and national association committees to have the required training and qualifications in place for their volunteer workforce.
The scope of the policy covers a variety of roles including:
- committee members
- volunteers
- formal instructing
- coaching & leading
- organising and supervising events and trips
In addition to the Standards for Deployment policy and to carry the logo and reputation of Paddle Northern Ireland your club must have all relevant policies and procedures in place covering Safeguarding and Safe Operating Procedures and be a membership organisation that is properly constituted with a club bank account.

Affiliated Member
Any member of your club who is not a Paddle Northern Ireland Full or Recreational member is required to hold Affiliated membership.
Club Activity
Club Activity is defined as any activity that has been assessed as part of the club's safety framework and promoted on the club calendar, website/online or noticeboard. Club activities also include inter-club activities where the responsibility for risk assessment and management is carried out and shared between all participating clubs. Affiliated members are only insured for Club Activity.
Club Data
Clubs will also need a Data Privacy Policy to agree with their members, this needs to give the club the ability to share member information with Paddle Northern Ireland for the purposes of running the sport, insurance and tracking member qualifications.
