Martin has been an active paddler for many years, from early experience through scouts he continued working part time in outdoor centres whilst developing his personal paddling across a range of environments and crafts. Following a break to focus on building his business as a Chartered Civil Engineering designer he is enjoying being back in the paddling community. An active member and current Chair of County Antrim Paddle Sports Club he has a passion for paddlesports, particularly coaching and introducing people to the sport. Martin owns and operates Moira Lakes Paddle Sports and Events Centre, where they facilitate a range of paddlesport activities in various crafts to both the general public and to a wide variety of organisations including clubs, Universities, Tollymore, Swim Ulster and Triathlon Ireland to name a few. He has extensive knowledge and experience in all aspects of the sport and will bring a well-rounded perspective to the Paddle Northern Ireland board.
His main goal and focus will be to support the current strategy to make paddling more accessible and appealing to a wider more diverse and inclusive audience and encourage the development and delivery of paddlesport in a safe, structured and fun environment. In addition to this Martin is keen to see paddlers develop in their personal paddling journeys from coaching and leading to competition and employment opportunities.
